♺ blackened pungmul
(KR / DE) Live
berlin-based and born-and-bred in Paju, South Korea, bela brings the pungmul – a Korean folk act rooted in agricultural traditions – to new territories. if this ancient performing practice was used in dance dramas and shamanistic rituals, it was also performed in political protests. summoning this powerful heritage, bela blends the percussive aspect of pungmul with vocal experiments relying on metal tradition, from black metal squeals to screamo growls, leading to a fiercely unique kind of queer club music.
