If there’s a long tradition of music straddling folk and electronica, Martyna’s work blend her acoustic (guitar, zither) and electronic elements with a rare homogeneity.

the result are gorgeous and delicate sonic pieces. but if we speak about delicate folk-related music, go easy schievekes and don’t go picturing the cosy atmosphere, warm blanket and herbal tea this kind of music can evoke. listening to Martyna Basta feels more like tiptoeing on a frozen lake : under the fascinating iridescent crust of ice, one can hear the cracks and sense the deep, frozen and dark water.
